We are a family of Christians who love God and care for each other. We hope that you will make DCC your church where your spiritual life and that of your family will be strengthened. In addition, you will experience a family atmosphere where we express our love in practical ways when it is needed the most.

There are a team of pastors and elders, whom you will meet, who are ready and able to serve you and your family. Most of all, we want to see you grow in the things of God and to have an influence much further than your own home, by touching the lives of others when they see what God has done in your life.

Statement of Faith

1.1. Durban Christian Centre including the Local Church Company and the Local Church, is based on the scriptural concept that all true believers are members of the Body of which Christ is the head: “for as the body is one and has many members and the member of that one body being many are one, so is Christ, for by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be slaves or free and have all been made to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:12-13).

1.2. Durban Christian Centre, including Local Church Company and the Local Church, is based on the following principles of faith:

1.2.1 The scriptures are the inspired and inherent Word of God, and as such they are revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 2:2).

1.2.2 There is one God, eternal and self-existent, self-revealed and manifested to man as Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19).

1.2.3 Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and Born of the Virgin Mary (John 11:14; Matthew 1:18, Luke 1:26, Luke 2:7; 2 Timothy 2:5).

1.2.4 Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His Blood as a sacrifice for our sins. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is seated on the right hand side of the Majesty on high (1 Peter 2:24; Hebrews 9:11-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Acts 2:32-36; Hebrews 10:12).

1.2.5 The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Christ, to convict men of sin, righteousness and judgement and to empower the believer (John 15:26; John 16:8; Acts 1:8).

1.2.6 Man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin (Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21).

1.2.7 Man is justified only by grace through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12; Roman 3:24-28).

1.2.8 Water baptism by immersion identifies us with the death and burial of Christ, and we should arise to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:3-9; 1 Peter 3:21).

1.2.9 The Lord’s Supper consisting of the elements – Bread and the Cup of the fruit of the vine, is the symbol expressing our sharing the Divine Nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:14); a memorial of His suffering and death, and a prophecy of His Second Coming (1 Corinthians 11:26) and it is enjoined on all believers “until He comes!”

1.2.10. The true church is composed of such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 2:24 -25, Ephesians 2:19-20).

1.2.11. The personal, literal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to judge both the living and the dead (1 Thessalonians 4;16; Hebrews 9:27; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Revelation 20:11-15; Acts 24:15).

1.2.12. The bodily resurrection of all the dead (Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:35 - 44; Revelation 20:11-15).

1.2.13. Everlasting blessedness for the believer, with judgement and everlasting punishment for the unbeliever (Matthew 7:21-23; Revelation 20:11-15; John 5:29).

1.2.14. Christ wants the members of His Church to take the Gospel into all the world (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8).

1.2.15. The Holy Spirit is at work today with the church through His gifts, fruits and anointed ministers (Acts 2:39; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:11; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Corinthians 12:26).

1.2.16. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to every believer and need to be activated and exercised to fulfill their divine purpose of blessing the Body of Christ (Acts 2:39; 2 Timothy 1:6).

1.2.17. The baptism of the Holy Spirit wherein the Spirit gives each believer their own private praise language used to edify themselves, and that such a baptism empowers the believer to be effective for Christ (Acts 1:8, 2:39; 1 Corinthians 14;2; Jude 20:1; 1 Corinthians 14;18; Acts 19:1-6).

1.2.18. Divine healing of the body as part of the atoning work of Jesus Christ. This healing can be received and also ministered to others by various gifts (1 Corinthians 12:8-10; Matthew 8:16-17; 1 Peter 2:24).

1.2.19. The full function of five-fold ministry, which was given to perfect and equip the saints so they can enter into the work of the ministry, thereby edifying the whole Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:28).

1.2.20. The present day ministries of the apostles and prophets, which Christ has set in the church as foundational and revelation ministries. That these two ministries will be restored to function in full power and authority before the Second Coming of Christ (Ephesians 2:20; Acts 3:21).

1.2.21. That the Church of Jesus Christ is God‘s instrument to establish and extend God’s kingdom until the literal return of Christ to reign over all the earth (Revelation 11:15).

1.2.22. The autonomy of each local church and itinerant ministries should be based out of and related to a local church and accountable to its senior pastor (Acts 13:1; Acts 15).

1.2.23. The Church is the Body of Christ expressed as the church individual, the church local and the church universal and invisible. As such, we believe the Church to be more than just a building or a gathering of people. It is a body living in relationship and harmony under the direction of the Head, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:15; 2 Corinthians 1:1; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 4; 11-15).

1.2.24. Church discipline is administered within Durban Christian Centre in a spirit of meekness and confidentiality. The purpose of such discipline is the restoration of the person(s) submitting to the discipline of DCC. The steps of discipline are, one-on-one private confrontation, then private confrontation with witnesses, and finally exposure to Durban Christian Centre for judgement leading to restoration or separation (Matthew 18:15-20, Galatians 6:1; Romans 16: 17; 2 John 9-11; 1 Corinthians 2:6-8; 1 Timothy 5:20).

1.2.25 As members of the same Body of Christ, baptized by one Spirit into one Body, we must endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, and as such that we should not bring a lawsuit against another Christian, individual or ministry unless all Scriptural principles have been complied with through efforts of meditation. We believe that all such disputes should be resolved within the Body of Christ without taking them before unbelievers of the courts (1 Corinthians 6:1-8; Ephesians 4:3-6).
